Two Souls by phantastes Two Souls by phantastes
A small study in watercolor.

A poem [link] made by :iconpurplelightning1998: based on the scenery and title of this work:

Two souls,
Trapped in the fog of life,
Along the lake of despair,
Is there a source of hope?

Two souls,
Lost in a forest of faces,
In the state of confusion,
Will old friends meet again?

Two souls,
Scaling mountains,
Among the land of hills,
Is there an end to the search?

Two souls,
Standing beside each other all along,
In the crowded, bumpy, confused fog called life,
Holding each other up,
The search never ends, for friends are never lost,
only hidden from sight, but never far.

I love the simplicity of it. The Aurora-like sky and the use of similar tones create a mystifying yet strong aura.
Love it :)

Goodness, this is just beautiful!
The colours are so soothing and pretty, and the slightly ethereal-like feeling of this makes this all the more lovely♥

Thanks Anj! I'm not sure...I'm letting the paper take full control of how the sky would look, unlike in digital art :XD:

I understand that. Maybe that's why I could never really get good at painting. I was always trying to enforce my will on the paint and paper. I had some nice ones, and those were the ones that "ran away from me". :D

Anj

Rather than just learning techniques and giving up along the way, I find that its much better to get to know the paper, brush and pigment. Let's do simple watercolor :D

I think you have the right of it. I lost mine a long, long time ago. I think I've forgotten most of what I knew as far as techniques are concerned. Isn't it funny... I have the talent, but I don't want to paint, and I know others who don't have the talent and wish they could paint. It's weird how the world works at times!

I think another reason I wasn't really good at painting is I'm more of a mechanical person. I'm very creative, but it's more mechanical than inspirational.
Hugs,
Anj

I always believe art and scientific methodology go together. A yatch would be useless in exploring the vastness of the ocean without a compass :)

Wow. Simply amazing, the eerie fog gives it all a feeling, but the people are like lost souls in this empty sea of white air, and brown dirt. I am going to write a poem about this now.
